Surfside Proudly Presents 'Exile' PDF
Written by Robin Pena

'Exile', the winner of Surfside's 8th Annual Playwiting Competition, will be presented Friday June 6th & Saturday June 7th at 8 PM, and Sunday June 8th at 2 PM.  Ticket price is $10.00 for general admission - no reserved seating.

The play was written by Lindsey Ferrentino, a student at NYU who makes her home in Merritt Island.

This comical, existential play shows exiled historical figures and a nun who meet in front of a wall to contemplate how and why they need to get over it, confusing themselves into wondering whether or not they have already done so. Consumed with the menial, they debate action vs. intellect with cynically humorous dialogue as bleak and ironic as their landscape.  'Exile' questions the idea of boundaries, what it means to be contained, and the isolation of genius.

Directed by Anthony Mowad, the cast of characters include:

Albert Einstein                      Bob Gray

Vladimir Lenin                       Rich Reifsnyder

Bertolt Brecht                       John Rowe

Leon Trotsky                         Adam Karolick

The Nun                                Sharon Reynolds-Mixon

Napoleon Bonaparte           Charles Mixon

Surfside Players is Alive & Well!! PDF
Written by Robin Pena

A Great Big THANK YOU to those who contacted us as a result of the recent article in Florida Today.  Florida Today was gracious enough to publish a feature article about our need for volunteers, and many of you responded!  We want to assure you, however, that Surfside is NOT closing, and is most definitely is a safe place to come & play!

Our work party sessions are Wednesday evenings from 6 PM to 10 PM, Saturday mornings from 8 AM to 2 PM, and Sunday mornings from 10 AM to 2 PM.  Ongoing projects include costume and prop reorganization and general building maintenence, and specialty projects include original set construction, painting & decoration unique to each show we produce.  In addition, we love to have new volunteers for ushering, concessions and house managing during productions.  We also have a need for people who love to scrapbook, especially with our 50th anniversary coming up next season - there is a lot of Surfside's history (photos, playbills, newspaper publicity articles, etc) that we would love to see organized & arranged in displays.

Please call 783-3127 to learn more about the fun we share at Surfside Players!
